A glimpse into my childhood:

Of course, I was jealous of my mom's hair - it was straight. It was blonde. It was everything mine wasn't. I guess the grass is always greener.

Happy RCM Day! So was the lead article on DuranDuran.com yesterday, as they celebrated the release of their new album, Red Carpet Massacre , yesterday. I stopped by and picked up the Deluxe Set (with a DVD, natch) and enjoyed last night. They’ve lost their lead guitarist and have collaborated with two artists I’ve never listened to (Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, if you must know). Some of the songs are very catchy, and I love, love, love Nite Runner, but it’s a completely different direction for the band, much more techno and dance oriented, and I think the brilliance of Astronaut was the maturation of their original sound, which has been lost on this album. It reminds me a lot of their early 90s stuff. Here’s a scathing review.

On another note, Lizzie had an interesting Meme that I’ll do, with some reworking for non-LJ blogs – here are questions I’ll answer about you, if you want to play along.

1. Tell you why I friended you. put you on my Bloglines
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a color, a photo, etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Tell you my favorite user pic photo of yours (or something about your avatar I like)
7. In return, you must post this in your LJ blog.

When St. Lazarus’ Feast Day passed a few weeks ago, I learned on the Orrologian blog that it is said of St. Lazarus that after he was resurrected by Christ, he made sure to serve something sweet with every meal.

I have long had that tradition, and remember to keep an opening in my daily caloric count for something to feed the sweet tooth I inherited from my Grandmother (may her Memory be Eternal). Today’s treat? The new Candy Cane Kisses I discovered this weekend.
