Only Six?

I was tagged by the lovely Philippa and didn’t get it done and was re-tagged by my birthday buddy, the awesome and artistic Shaunte.

According to the rules... Each player of this game starts with the "6 Weird Things about Me".(about yourself)...People who get tagged need to write a entry of their own 6 weird things on their own blog, as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says 'you are tagged' in their comments and tell them to read your blog!"

While I’ve done this before but here is a new and improved version.

1)I have to fall asleep on my left side, curled up.
2)I brush my teeth before I scrapbook
3)I don’t like to drive with my coat on (which is why I’ve been so pleased with my Christmas gift from Dawn - it’s a kicky and warm pink scarf hand knitted. Thanks again!)
4) I have a very long stride. This usually results in me walking in front of my family as they don’t seem to be similarly blessed. It also presents problems when my skirt is long and straight as I end up walking like a penguin.
5) I don’t particularly like spicy food. I’m more of a bland food kind of gal. And I also am ok with repetitive eating – I’ll often have the same thing for lunch nearly every day.

So, I struggled coming up with #6, so I asked Eddie. He answered “well, you have a lot of little quirks, but they are little quirks, so I don’t worry about them. But, if I had to come up with one, it’d be your foot fetish.”
“My what?”
“You know, how you don’t like socks or shoes on when you are at home, and you are always leaving piles of socks around the house because you’ve just come in the house”
(he’s right, I also can’t stand to have socks on when I go to bed. Shudder Although, I’d not call it a foot fetish, just saying.).
“That, and the fact that you wipe down the kitchen table with a green scrubby ”

The Epiphany. For my friends on the Old Calendar, Theophany
(called Epiphany in the West) was this past week. I get the headlines from the Russian News Agency (thanks Alana Juliana for the link) and this lovely photo gallery was included late last week. Check out the size of that Holy Water Vat that Patriarch Alexsy is blessing.

Anyway, my mom and I were discussing the meaning of the word epiphany

1. (initial capital letter ) a Christian festival, observed on January 6, commemorating the manifestation of Christ to the gentiles in the persons of the Magi; Twelfth-day.
2. an appearance or manifestation, esp. of a deity.
3. a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience.
4. a literary work or section of a work presenting, usually symbolically, such a moment of revelation and insight.

especially definition #3 as she and I were working through an issue that both of us are having regarding an upcoming family event. It helped both of us to realize what the issue was (and for each of us, it was slightly different) which helps us realign our reaction to it.

And, while in the East, it is most often called Theophany (meaning specifically the manifestation of God) this is something that the feast
does teach us – how do we react to God, in the Flesh, baptizing and sanctifying creation.
