Great and Holy Saturday we are preparing for Pascha. I spent a wonderful evening at the church last night with the long but beautiful stanzas inbetween Psalm 119 and a procession around the church. You will be happy to know that this year I did not light my hair on fire!

So today, Ced and I broke out the egg dye packets from the Czech-Slovak museum, and we dyed eggs red and black (we can't find the gold - but there is always next year) Wow! They do a great job - I may have to order packets from them again. In a humerous moment while preparing the dye, we noticed that the warnings are to not ingest, get near your eye or nose, or have prolonged contact with the skin. But, if used correctly, it will be non-Toxic. Bwhahhhaaa. How are you supposed to dye an egg without getting it all over your hands? And, it won't wash off, so I'm not sure about the avoiding prolonged skin contact.

The Summer of my German Soldier Cedric is reading this book for his class. I've never read it, and he assures me that he won't be able to loan it to me before he has to turn it back in. I found today a paper that he needs to turn in to show that he has read it. Under compare and contrast yourself with the character, he wrote:

She is female and I am male. We both eat food. She is Jewish and I am not.

Great and Holy Wednesday Cedric and I went to Matins last night (all of the Holy Week services are served in anticipation, it is an old Medieval tradition in both the Eastern and Western Churches). He seemed to have an OK time, and on the way we discussed Christine and how that is a parable of the evil that gets inside your heart and turns one away from God (he's probably thinking, "Note to self: Don't ask Mom about these books" The original question was how come Arnie didn't notice that Christine was bad and everyone else around him did). I pray that he will have a good Pascha.

Jane Eyre I finished this book last week - what a neat ending with her marriage to Mr. Rochester. And what an icky thought of her cold-fish cousin asking her to marry him. Ick, ewwww.

Paul McCartney has come out against Cluster Bombs - Yaaaay. Which, interestingly enough, the United States isn't acknowledging that they have used. He is also on a new CD released in England for war relief. He re-recorded Calico Sky which is a beautiful love song, looking forward to hearing his new version.
