I have two buckets of blueberries at home (and in my belly). One of the agents in my office lives on a blueberry farm, and her niece picked two buckets for me.

I LOVE blueberries - they are by far my favorite fruit. Such a treat fresh off the bush. And, even more of a treat from the freezer in the winter months. I've always thought I'm particularly lucky as my birthday coincides with blueberry season, so I get blueberry pie for my special day (usually).

Anyway, so I had the first bucket at the house. Xavier and I were coming home from Vespers, and he said "are you going to make a pie" I answered "probably". His reply? "I hope it's pumpkin" Snicker. Not with two buckets of blueberries in the house.

I'm thinking he's counting the days until we get a pumpkin in our CSA box!

May you enjoy the earth's bounty this weekend. And, if you have some blueberries, think of me!

Indeed

A brother asked the elder: "Why am I always sitting in judgment on my
brother?" The elder replied: "Because you do not yet know yourself.
Someone who knows himself does not see the shortcomings of his brothers."

Yeah, What (S)he Said A few years ago, I read a really good essay on the fact that the Hiroshima bombing is on the Feast of the Transfiguration. Being as we are at the 60th Anniversary of the bombing, I'd been kicking around ways to make the connection eloquently.

Surfing my Bloglines account, I found I didn't have to:

Sampson did it beautifully in "Tabor and Hiroshima" as did Karen in
"Day of Transfigurations"

In addition, this article by Father George Zabelka was brought to my attention by an online friend.

Enjoy their wise thoughts, and join me in praying for those who were devestated by the bombings, in all countries.

Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.

What Book Are You?

Someone posted this quiz on TwoPeas I'm ashamed to admit I've never even heard of this book, much less read it.

You're A Theory of Justice!

by John Rawls

In the beginning, you lived in a town. The town had many problems!
Rather than moving, you decided to come up with the idea for the best town ever. Going
all the way back to the original position, you created the idea for the best town ever!
Lo and behold, the best town ever looked almost identical to the town you lived in. You
decided to stay in the town. Now you resent people mistaking your refined thought
experiments for "the wall of stupidity" in high school debate
rounds.
