Live a Life Less Ordinary

On Saturday night, I had the pleasure of attending the Mountain Music Fest at Marymoor Park with Lizzie. As Lizzie mentions, the sun shone in our face for a good part of the afternoon, but she was well prepared with yummy foods (homemade cauliflower tarts – yum) and we had lots of water. It was such a lovely venue and far different than my previous festival concert experience. We actually brought blankets and sat for a good majority of the time just enjoying chatting and the awesome music.

First up was Jackie Greene – he and I grew up in the same neck of the woods (although he’s nearly 10 years younger than me) . Then, was Shawn Mullins whose voice is even more gravelly and lovely in person. He’ a red-head jealous of those who are pigmentally blessed (and thus not burning to a crisp whilst sitting in the sun) . Then was the BoDeans who I’d never really listened to. Most of the people on the radio think they stole the show, and I nearly have to agree. Their music was really awesome and I think I need an album or two – any suggestions? Lastly, and the main reason we went was to see Carbon Leaf who didn’t disappoint. Their set was a great mix of old and new, they ended with The Boxer, and we had to dance the entire time. The only thing that would have made their concert perfect was Raise the Roof as the encore. Their new album comes out in September, and I’m so there to buy it.

Driving out was a dream, we didn’t have terrible traffic at all (although we came out a different gate which was a bit confusing), I dropped Lizzie off, and got home right about midnight. One of the wonderful things about the concert being sponsored by the radio station is that I’ve heard clips from the show several times. It was great.

We kept saying “Next year, we should…” so I hope that we’ll be able to attend!
