A glimpse into my childhood:

Of course, I was jealous of my mom's hair - it was straight. It was blonde. It was everything mine wasn't. I guess the grass is always greener.

Oh. My. Goodness! Someone was looking through my bathroom window when my son was 6 years old! That's where they got the idea for this cartoon!

The grass is always greener - I remember when we were in a beauty salon together - you getting your hair straightened (those marvelous curls!) and I was getting a perm. I think it was my last one, since I saw it all in a different light after that. Your hair is, and always has been, beautiful!

I'm with your mom -- my hair was as straight as a yard of pump water, and while I didn't want *curls,* gosh, how I wished it at least had some *body.* Curiously, after menopause it did get thicker and develop a little wave. *And some doctor wants me to take *hormones*?!?!?!* ;-)

When I was a little girl, my mother also wanted me to have curls -- Shirley Temple curls. So from about age 7 onwards, I would always have to suffer with permanents. I can still feel how they burned my scalp...

That's funny! My sister is the same way- she has GORGEOUS ringlet curls all the way down her back. I unfortunately have neither straight nor curly nor ever wavy hair. It is a mixture; so I am stuck blowdrying, straightening or curly my hair- and I have a lot.

The grass is definitely always greener! That's for sure.

My twins are always saying they wish they had blue eyes and not brown - we always want what we will never have. Take care. Kellan

my hair is dark and curly/wavy - or was - now it's at least half grey - much better than straight and blond anyway.

and your hair is gorgeous :)

But I know what you mean about the grass always being greener. Laughing at what Cathi (your mum) commented too :)

meg my hair went curlier after having our kids - and now at almost 48 (in a week or so!) it's better than ever. Apart from the grey and actually I even like that. I mean I'm old(er) so why pretend to be in my 20s :)

hugs and blessings :)

My goodness, Meg, your hair got *thicker* after menopause! Mine keeps getting thinner. Ugh!

That is funny!

And good insight into how NOT to wrangle a bit of child psychology.

I always wished I had dark, curly hair. Still do. :-) Unfortunately, mine is neither blond nor brown (kinda' dishwater color), and neither straight nor curly (just frizzy). Thank goodness I have a great straight iron.

funny, I had that straight, blond hair as a child. I would have just given it to you! I always liked your curls. ..
