Happy RCM Day! So was the lead article on DuranDuran.com yesterday, as they celebrated the release of their new album, Red Carpet Massacre , yesterday. I stopped by and picked up the Deluxe Set (with a DVD, natch) and enjoyed last night. They’ve lost their lead guitarist and have collaborated with two artists I’ve never listened to (Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, if you must know). Some of the songs are very catchy, and I love, love, love Nite Runner, but it’s a completely different direction for the band, much more techno and dance oriented, and I think the brilliance of Astronaut was the maturation of their original sound, which has been lost on this album. It reminds me a lot of their early 90s stuff. Here’s a scathing review.
On another note, Lizzie had an interesting Meme that I’ll do, with some reworking for non-LJ blogs – here are questions I’ll answer about you, if you want to play along.

To answer your question: No - No intrest in Jimmy Carter.
But Carter on ER was pretty cute ;)

OH MY - this visual was NOT what I expected to see when I popped in!
I haven't listened to Duran Duran since the 80's. Didn't know they were still making music. Guess my tastes have gone in different directions over the years.
As for your meme
1. I found you through Papa Herman and have enjoyed learning more about Orthodoxy from your words.
2. I associate you with blue bonnets...remember a great picture of you sitting in a field of them, in Texas I think.
3. I like your positive encouragement - I notice things you say on several of the other blogs I explore from time to time so I get a feel for you from those as much as I do the times you drop by my place. I also like your laugh bwahahaha!
4. My memory of you is the near miss when you came to Kennewick but it didn't work out for you to come to our barbecue. Rain Check!
5. No one particular thing...I guess I've just enjoyed learning bits and pieces about you over time. As much as I appreciate your writing, I have no illusions that I know you well. Still, one of the things about scavenging around your words for whatever you choose to reveal is coming to appreciate that a TASTE of knowing someone can be sweet in its own way...quite different from full immersion, but valuable all the same.
6. Love the icons!
7. Nope. Not my thing.
Ok Mimi here is yours
1. You where my first idol.
2. Associate you Holly Hobbie
3. I like your positive outlook and your abilty to truely belive in what you belive in. And your great spelling and grammer which I lack.

5. Will you ever move home?
6. Tons of pic but the one that always makes me laugh is one that Cedric took of you (i think) laughing at the kitchen table
Here is yours, Mimi.
I also posted it on my Musings of a Motherless Child blog here: http://missingbecheery.blogspot.com/2007/11/new-meme.html

4. You are the meme queen! I steal memes from you all the time!
5. What led to your becoming a vegetarian?
6. There is a photo somewhere on your blog of you as a young teen. I just love your smile in that photo. I always think of you with exactly that smile.
KEWL meme!!! Me too, please!
Hey Mimi. Send me an e-mail so we can discuss the new Duran Duran album more thoroughly. :D
I got a new computer - my old computer deleted all my e-mail addresses, etc. So I don't have your e-mail address anymore.

Thanks for letting us know about the new DD album... being a child of the 80's, I love Duran Duran.
Went to iTunes and listened to samples of the songs, and based on them, most of them are pretty good. "Last Man Standing" sounds the most like their original sound, imo. I'll probably download it...
Album covers are weird, man.
I was such a Durannie when I was a kid. I can't wait to hear what Justin Timberlake does with them.
oh MAN! i have that cd on my christmas list... i just watched them on a&e and the stuff they sang was pretty good, so hopefully i'll enjoy it.
