The lovely Arielle - who I get to see regularly, a true blessing – tagged me to share six things that have made me happy recently. (and hey, did you ever answer the questions I made? I’m left hanging not knowing who your favorite member of N’Sync is, and why, grin)

1 - Getting to see The It Girl tonight with a friend, after a dinner out eating Indian Food. I'm very excited.

2 – Xavier, my reluctant reader, getting into The Edge Chronicles. He also has to read a Historical Fiction, and I got The Emperor’s Winding Sheet. for him. As usual, I can’t wait until he’s done so I can read it.

3 – speaking of, getting my hands on a copy of Katherine by Anya Seton. Did you know she was Chaucer’s Sister-in-law? I’m knee deep in 14th Century England, yay!

4 – Cedric took the PSAT on Saturday, and felt he did well.

5 – Eddie has had a couple of good interviews and feels good about his job prospects, thank you for your continued prayers.

6 – It is a beautiful sunny, crisp Autumn Day.

So, play along and let me know what made you smile recently.

1. Seeing the wonderful autumn colours in Western Mass last Sunday.

2. The hugs and concern I received last Sunday after being absent from liturgy for two weeks. Thanks to Flo and Tamara in particular.

3. Taking Nicky's old photos from Athos and bringing them up to snuff by using the photo-edit software. They look as good as new.

4. Reading some wonderful poetry by Anna Akhmatova, especially an old favourite, "Byeli Zhuravli" ("The White Cranes").

5. Having coffee with one of my girlfriends at the B&N Café and seeing her lovely little daughter.

6. Our cat Tulip giving me a "cat kiss" when I was down. I laughed till I was silly.

Does that do it, dear? BTW, did you enjoy the photos from Athos I sent on?

Mmmm...

...soft baby skin...

...awkward new baby smiles...

...a tiny hand clenched around my index finger...

...sloppy toddler kisses on a little sister's head...

...big brothers and sisters who beg to hold the baby...

Lot's of good reasons to smile!

As far as 'N Sync, I honestly don't know. Was Joey Fatone in 'N Sync or Backstreet Boys? I like him. But not because he was in the band. Not really my kind of music!

LOVED this post - so good to remind ourselves regularly of what makes us feel blessed.

I'm pulling together materials for a workshop on gratitude that I am leading for a group of women at our church and I have been amazed by how much evidence there is to show that focusing on the POSITIVES in our lives really does change our biochemistry in substantial ways.

So keep smiling - keep noticing - you'll live longer and enjoy the ride!

I am so loving all the comments in this - they are emailed to my account, and each list has brought smiles to my face (and hey, Meg, a step-Grandma again! Whohooooo). So many good things - cat kisses, new baby smells, Autumn, good food, and time with friends and family! Awesome, all!
