Deb tagged me with this lovely list. Memes about books are my favorite types.
1. One book that changed your life:
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The research I did on my paper for class on the character of Sonya led me into the Orthodox Church. Although, to my embarrassment, I’ve not read the book since.
2.One book that you’ve read more than once:
Cannery Row by John Steinbeck. I usually hate Steinbeck but I love this book and the sequel, “Sweet Thursday” and read them often.
3.One book you’d want on a desert island:
This is the question that totally trips me up. I can’t imagine one book that would take me through living the rest of my life on a Deserted Island. But, I’ll have to go with the easy answer and say The Bible
4. One book that made you laugh:
I love to laugh, and that includes laughing in a book. The most recent one that comes to mind is The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde, the third in the Thursday Next series. Dawn has just gotten in to them, and she has number 4. I can't wait to borrow it.
5. One book that made you cry:
I cry very easily in books as well, so most of the ones I’ve read have made me cry. I’m going to go with The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger because I loved it so much.
6. One book that you wish had been written:
Eleanor of Aquitaine: The Autobiography.
7. One book that you wish had never been written:
Like Deb, I just can’t unwrite a book.
8. One book you’re currently reading:
I've just started The Highest Tide by Jim Lynch. It’s set in my city, that’s cool.
9. One book you’ve been meaning to read:
My “to read” list is long and always growing (I laughed when Grace said I read a library a month, oooh - I so wish!). After The Highest Tide I’m planning on reading the trilogy by Elspeth Huxley that was lent to me by my good friend.
People I’m tagging – Constantine, because I owe him one. Anyone else who wants to do the meme, I’d love to read your answers. Let me know if you do so I can read your choices (and add to my "to read" list, I'm sure!)

Hey you've helped me add a few more books to my list! I've read some of the Thursday Next books too. They're so strange and I really like them.
Deb

Happy Feast Day!!!
loved this - thanks for taking time to do it.
i love book suggestions, it saves me the work of getting into a book and realizing that it isnt good, but feeling like i have to finish it to make sure it doesnt redeem itself by the end.
Mimi, Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'll be doing this meme the next time I want to post but don't have anything to say! (Not today though.)
BTW, I'm also an Orthodox Christian -- Melkite Greek Catholic. I am enjoying going through your archives and reading your posts on the feast days. (You might find some similar things in my archives ;-) )
