Dishwasher Woes
The other day, Eddie asked me if I had spilled water on the floor. Since the answer was no, he spent the morning investigating the cause, and it turned out to be a dishwasher leak. With damaged flooring. Ugh. We looked for the part, but couldn't find it locally (no stores carry brand specific parts, go figure).
Thankfully, with the kids gone, our dish use hasn't been too extensive, so we were able to wait until the part came to get the dishes washed instead of handwashing.
Last night, the part finally arrived, and Eddie fixed up the dishwasher. One of his projects today is to go and get a hose necessary to finish the repair. Another is to crawl under the house to see how extensive the flooring damage is.
As he said, it seems that all our funds go to repairing existing items and never to upgrade the house.
Also, a note of irony, when we moved from the 50 year old house to the brand new house, he was so excited as he hates plumbing repairs. Wouldn't you know, the first two repairs he's had to perform have been plumbing related?
So, I guess we look at deciding what to do with the flooring. Maybe it's time to install wood laminate.

ugh! my husband also hates stupid plumbing repairs.
there are times I really appreciate being the woman of the house (and also heartily appreciate having a man around to do plumbing repairs:P)
Awww, poor Eddie! He's such a good sport - if it isn't the house, it's the car. Have you noticed yet that whenever you get a little ahead in your savings something will need repair IMMEDIATELY - and it will cost about $50 more than you have saved? One of life's little mysteries.
ugghh! Mimi I feel for you and Eddie! I hope the repair runs smoothly. I have wood laminate in my house and love it! :)
my blog has moved - I am still getting settled in - thought you might want to know.
Goodness! We have had more repairs in this newer home than we ever had in the 20 year old one. I hear ya!

Wow! What a great hubby you have. I hope the final repairs are fast and simple.
Wood laminate always looks nice for the kitchen.

oy... what a pain! ((hugs))
Bummer! We just had toilet/plumbing issues yesterday. I feel your pain!
Thank you for your virtual hugs and prayers but I am afraid I am in need of more! I posted about it earlier today.
I am still working on my Grandmothers "last" scrapbook I told you about earlier in the summer...it will include pictures of her brother (the one I posted about today).
I just had all my plumbing problems fixed last week...must be that time of the year. lol
So, so sorry about the dishwasher leak. But I am happy to hear that you have a husband that can fix it!
That wood laminate is my dream flooring. Oops. Did I just say that outloud?
