A Big Ol’ Box of Britain and Barcelona. My parents took a repositioning cruise from the Bahamas to Barcelona a few weeks ago, and then flew through London on the way home. On Saturday night, we got a big box of Britain, for my Anglophile self, and of Barcelona for the boys. They got these great t-shirts, I got a fabulous book about the Kings and Queens of England (with timelines, and photos and drawings, and oh my!) and Eddie got some yummy and fattening shortbread cookies. Another treat in the box was a tabloid that my mom picked up at the airport – with the snark about the McCartney marriage Talk about a guilty pleasure. She also dropped in the People Magazine that my sister sent along on the same topic.

And, speaking of my sister – her birthday was in late June and while I didn’t forget it (hope you are enjoying your present, and remember to not use the exfoliating mitts or the scrub on your face) I did forget to give her a shout out. So, Meg – you are amazing, my favorite sister and the mom of my fabulous nephews, Have a wonderful 28th year and truly treat yourself

Happy day, and year to your sister! 28, so young!
What exactly is a "repositioning" cruise?
Ignorantly,

ooh didn't realize you were interested in England and things ... Scottish shortbread is delicious and they always sell it at the aiport too .. mmm even nicer (though harder to get) are scottish oatcakes (biscuits) which are SO good with cheese

English history is great :) esp Henry VIII times - I'm doing two history of church courses in August-September - Middle Ages and Reformation. Hope we have good lecturers who make this alive - because history can be fascinating but isn't always!

Hi sweetie - glad you like it all! It was fun to choose things for you. Wasn't the shortbread fabulous? We had a hard time putting it in the box . . . and the tabloid was pure guilty pleasure. Hugs!

I have a certain respect for the British. I've heard that the book, "Watching the English: The Hidden Rules of English Behavior" offers an often true and humorous look at the English. I haven't read it yet, but it sounds enjoyable.

Deb – Now you know, I love Sir Paul. Anyway, the biggest tragedy is that he didn’t marry ME, grin! Have you read the book "Children of Henry the VIII" by Weir. Very good Yes, I have. I enjoy Weir’s writing very much.

Rebeca - What exactly is a "repositioning" cruise? - it’s when the cruise line is moving a boat from one location to another, so you get a price break for only going one way – so they were moving the boat from the Bahamas to Barcelona to use there.

Lorna - ooh didn't realize you were interested in England and things Very much so! And, yum, the biscuits sound lovely. And, yes, I hope your class is interesting. It’s such a fascinating topic, isn’t it awful when it is presented dryly?

Mom - Wasn't the shortbread fabulous? We had a hard time putting it in the box . . . Yes, and they were so nice as to not put the caloric count on the box – that means they don’t have any, right?

Symeon - Watching the English: The Hidden Rules of English Behavior" offers an often true and humorous look at the English. Oooh, that does sound good.

Thank you very much my wonderful sister. I have three thank you notes sitting here next to me waiting to go in the mail. Jess loved his binocluars (i know I splled the wrong). Carter looks super cute in the PJ's. And I am enjoying the bath stuff.
Glad I could pass on the musing of People. I love it when they offer freebies. We can't wait to see the boys. Jess is almost jumping out of his skin! Now when are you coming down?

laughing at the calorific value comment.

(good) shortbread tastes like air so yeah it's calorie free.

Just don't make any yourself! Though it is suprisingly easy to do ... two Christmasses ago they imported scottish shortbread in novel shapes. I loved it :) look out for it where you are come advent.
