Panic in Detroit.

So this fair-weather football fan watched the Super Bowl on Sunday. I though the Seahawks did great until the fourth quarter, when they just decided to let the clock run out…Gah! And, could the calls have gone any more not the way of the Hawks?

During one of the ads that had baseball players in it Eddie turned to me and said “Baseball season is almost here” to which all I can add is a hearty Amen!

On our way to Liturgy, we passed a church with their reader board:
Yet those who wait for the LORD
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with Seahawk’s wings
Isaiah 40-31

which I guess must be the Seattle translation?

As DollyMama’s daughter pointed out – the half-time show was painful.

And, my nominations for best adverts.
Emerald Nuts
Sierra Mist
Dove
Master Card
and the best one of all – the Paul retrospective offered up by Fidelity
Sigh, last year's half time show was so lovely.

love the translation!! bwaha... i can just picture everyone in seattle singing "and God will raise you up... on seahawks wings..."

my fave commercial was the one with the little horse pulling the wagon and the bigger horses are pushing it from behind. too cute.

I am not much of a football fan, and so all I watched was the last minute or so... when I get a chance I am going to have to check out the commericals via your links.

The prison (where I work) had Super Bowl fever going on... it is almost like a holiday there, with shouts of "Seeeaaaahhaaawwwwkkkks" heard on the tiers during the pre-game day.

I don`t think it had any coverage at all here in the UK, sadly. But I don`t think I could have borne to se an ageing Rolling Stone !

LOL, the Seattle translation! I liked the Dove commercial too. But I didn't watch more than a few minutes. I don't even know who performed at half time!

OK, I am so in the minority here, but I was impressed that Mick Jagger can still get out there and put on a show! Remember how OLD he is -- and how hard he's lived life. And kudos to Keith Richards for inspiring Johnny Depp - that's worth something. Go Stones! (and this is from someone who didn't like them back in the day!) LOL. Seahawk wings weren't very effective this weekend . . .

We watched it from my hospital room. I have to say, though, that my dad was very happy as he's been a Steelers fan since he arrived in the US (back in 1971). But he's a little nervous to wear his Steelers jacket or hat because we do live in Portland, OR and he could get beat up or something:) I was just happy Seattle made it as far as they did. And I cringed throughout the half time show... but i did try to remember how old these guys are... but Paul Mcartney did such a great job last year... the other comment, from my husband re. the half time show... why are they using all these foreign singers for the half time show (although I obviously wouldn't complain if U2 did the half time show)... I told him that three years ago they used American singers and ended up with a wardrobe malfunction (and at least if mick jagger had a wardrobe malfunction, we might all cringe but we would survive:)

The halftime show was just bizarre. I hadn't seen the superbowl in many years....can't even remember when, maybe back in seminary when the single guys invited us marrieds with kids to join them for the superbowl at the dorm lounge. I think the time elapsed was not too long. I am not a sports fan, and football is about all the violence I can stomach. But of course it's fun to get together with other folks to watch, but it would have been more fun if the team we were all rooting for had won!
