Finally, a quiz that uses my degree

Rare, that.

I'm Pasternak, who knew?

pasternak
Cue the balalaikas, you are good old BORIS
PASTERNAK. As a kid, you hung out with Tolstoy,
Rachmaninov, Scriabin, and Rilke. You are a
gentle, sentimental man of letters. You have a
wife, plus a transcendently gorgeous hidden
mistress. The mistress helps you to write your
famous poetry. (Sound familiar?) You pissed off
the Soviets, who deprived you of a free trip to
Sweden. And as far as I know, your name does
mean turnip.

Which wacky 20th century Russian author are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Edited to add, I got the quiz from Memoirs of a Catechumen, Thanks!

To you or to Boris? That is wacky!

I actually have a huge soft spot for Pasternak, I love his poetry and Dr. Zhivago is an incredible book.

OK, so I will plead ignorance of this author (but I loved Pasternak's "Dr. Zhivago), but I am:

You are VLADIMIR MAYAKOVSKY. You brood, and look sexy while doing it. Futurism and surrealism appeal to you. As a young artiste you pulled pranks like throwing tea at your audiences. You really like your friend Brik's wife, so youll write her an epic poem deemed "the most savage indictment of a woman in our time." A couple years after the October Revolution, no one will praise your work anymore, and your crappy love life will make you depressed. So, sadly, you'll commit suicide.

The movie was portrayed as a love story, as I understand it (I've not seen it) and the book is not a love story at all. It's beautiful and haunting and incredibly written, but the love story isn't the focus nor the entirety of Dr. Zhivago's life. I'd highly recommend reading it.

I'm doing great on my exercising, thanks for asking, my G friend! Two weeks of three times a week, and we will begin the third week tonight.

Stephanie, I'd be very sad.

Great poet, actually, Mayakovsky. If I'm remembering correctly, he was married to Isadora Duncan.
