A Woman’s Daybook for Tuesday, March 24
Outside my window...it is definitely spring – lots of rain, lots of sun, it is cold, then it is warm.
I am thinking...my ankles are cold
I am thankful for...a good visit with my best friend whom I met when we were 10. I told the X-man that we became friends when he is younger than he is now
From the learning rooms...The X-man has a project, the Oldest (C-man maybe?) is home sick
From the kitchen...I made an orzo, tomato, garlic, spinach calzone last night. I’m thinking maybe Mrs. Smith’s pierogis tonight. Any suggestions on how to prepare?
I am wearing...a long black and tan plaid skirt, black socks that aren’t keeping my ankles warm, a black t-shirt with a black cardigan over it.
I am creating...I scrapped with my normal group plus my good friend last weekend, and I have some projects I need to finish up.
I am going...nowhere tonight, but tomorrow is the X-man’s birthday so we’ll go out for dinner, and he begins a PreSeason Baseball Tournament on Thursday.
I am reading...Orthodox Prayer Life and feeling like I am on the bottom rung.
I am hoping...for my ankles to be warm tomorrow.
I am hearing... Berwald: Symphony No.2 in D "Sinfonie capricieuse, apparently. (I’m streaming a classical station)
Around the house...we had the windows cleaned on Saturday – they look so lovely and clear.

One of my favorite things...I discovered Graphic 45 papers at my local Scrapbook store this past weekend, and bought several. Can’t wait to play with themA few plans for the rest of the week: See above – dinner, baseball, rinse and repeat.
Here is picture thought I am sharing... Dh and I dressed for the Symphony Gala earlier this month.

I adore the picture of you and your hubby! what a beautiful and charming couple you are! :)
what a coincidence! orzo and spinach has been my favourite lenten snack so far! :)
Here's to warm ankles, Mimi! :)
What a fun list!
p.s. I also like the picture of you and your husband!
LOVE Graphic 45 papers--they are so wonderful. And how cute are you and your DH?!
Pierogis--I can never figure out how you're supposed to eat 'em. I just grind on lots of black pepper and call it good.
Wow Mimi, you guys look smashing! What a beautiful picture! You look so lovely together.

Growing up out east in a very ethnic, eastern European parish, I remember the ladies of our church hand-making perogis with cheese and potato or onion and potato filling. My mouth is watering just thinking of it.
Perogis are best with caramelized onions and sour cream. Tofu-imitation doesn't cut it. It is OK with just the onions (and salt, but I'm a huge salt fiend). You'll have to try them with sour cream after Lent -- to die for, especially if you can find home-made ones :)
you look so happy:)
Lovely photo !
And I sympathise about the cold ankles....it is perishing cold here !
What a lovely looking couple you are :-)
My ankles were cold yesterday - but today I am wearing some wool/cashmere socks my dh gave me for my birthday a few years ago. It is snowy outside and we're expecting about a foot of snow tomorrow! Spring is not here yet!
S'prazdnikom! I hope you have a good Annunciation!!!
I have seen Graphic 45 papers online only, not in person yet!
What a nice photo of you and your husband...how was the symphony gala? Sounds elegant!

Thank you for the warm ankle wishes, so far they seem to be helping.
I also like pierogis best with sour cream, but I actually had them very similarly to how you recommended, IG - Dh sauted them with onions and then margerine and salt on top. He made carrots and broccoli as a side dish. I'd love to be in a parish that had lots of pierogis for sale, yum.
And, thanks for the photo compliments, we had a lovely time.
Oh, and Victoria - how are you having your orzo and spinach? That sounds good.
You two are so cute together! OMG!! What great big smiles!
Warm ankles...I sooooo know what you are talking about.
Do you ever where bright colors? I could see you in a fuschia pink sweater with a black pencil skirt!
Great picture!! Thanks for all your prayers, Mimi.
You guys look so darn snazzy! :)
You may have covered this before -- but do you only wear dresses/skirts, or do you wear slacks or jeans sometimes? (Seems like every time you mention what you are wearing, it is a skirt.)
Great picture! :)
You and your husband look so nice!
love the picture!
i think it is probably a blessing to feel we are at the bottom rung when reading about prayer.
have you read _Christ is in our midst_ by Fr. John a Monk ? This is a book I turn back to… I should do so more often!
LOVE the photo Mimi! Our parish makes and sells about six kinds of pierogies, as well as nut rolls (Potica) and halupki. We have a sale day once a month on the first Saturday, so come on down! Its kind of a long commute, but you can stay with me! Denise
Angie - no, not at all. I usually do these at work - if I were to do it at home, the answer would be "sweatpants, longsleeve tshirt, and no socks" most evenings.
But, I do like to wear skirts and dresses, and do probably 95% of the time at work.
Philippa - I do wear bright colors, honestly! But, I also wear a lot of black.
Missing - yum. Sigh. I'd be a happy camper at your parish (and I'd love to come visit, thanks!)
What a great photo! You both look so happy!!
That was a nice glimpse into your day. I am now noticing that my ankles are cold (hadn't thought of it until now). Off to get some socks!
What a cute photo!
A very nice photo of you and your hubby..I have a fun story to share on my blog today..in case you want to go read it. I'm off with a sinus bug and being very lazy, but wanted to share it with my readers. Suz
What a great picture of you guys!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE pierogis!!
