The Amazing and Talented Rachel (seriously, look at this dress she made her daughter – do you think she’d make me one?) tagged me the other day. Since I’ve done the Meme before, I thought I’d do the Christmas Meme I’ve seen floating around. Feel free to join in, just let me know in the comments you’ve done it.

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate? I always like Hot Chocolate, but I enjoy an Egg Nog Latte or two during the 12 days of Christmas.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa fills the stockings; all the wrapped presents are from mom and dad.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? We have white lights.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? No.
5. When do you put your decorations up? I always try to let Eddie’s birthday (on the 13th) pass before we put them up. We always leave the tree up through Theophany (Epiphany)
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Christmas morning cinnamon rolls.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child: I had great Christmases growing up, it’s hard to isolate one. But, I remember that feeling of lying in bed waiting for Christmas morning.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? A neighbor told me but I didn’t believe her. It was a gradual realization.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Always.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? We each get an ornament each year commemorating an event from the year, so I have all sorts of assorted memories that go on the tree. There’s no theme, though.
11. Snow! Love it or dread it? Well, I’ve only had one white Christmas, when I was 16. LOVE it.
12. Can you ice skate? Yes. The secret is tightly lacing up your boots.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I’ve had a lot of great gifts.
14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you? Celebrating the Incarnation, naturally.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? My boss makes these amazing Macadamia nut shortbread – there’s a batch in my freezer that’s coming to Christmas with me. Yum.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? The ornament tradition.
17. What tops your tree? Funny you should ask – we’ve had a burlap Santa Claus for years. Last year I bought a metal Peace Angel, but on Friday, I found a new Peace Angel who somehow managed to come home with me. Maybe I collect tree toppers?
18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving? Um Receiving. No, Giving ;) Grin.
19. What is your favorite Christmas song? O Come All Ye Faithful (especially the second verse). But, that’s followed closely by a bunch including Il Est Ne, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Luly, Luly, and O Holy Night.
20. Candy canes: LOVE them. Pure sugar peppermint flavored.
21. Favorite Christmas movie? Eddie says “Die Hard”. I say, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” But, “A Christmas Story” is good too.
22. What do you leave for Santa? Carrots for Rudolph.

Oh, about the Bruce Cockburn Christmas album: the Oly library has a copy, and I also just found it on his website.

Enjoy! I think I might come north for a week or so in January.

We do the ornament tradition too and I always buy an ornament with the year too. I imagine at some point there won't be enough room on my tree. LOL

Miss K - I can't comment on your blog (it apparently hates me). Cool, I liked your list.

Couldn't view the dress. A password and user name is required via the link you provided. Bummer. Bet it was pretty though.

Mimi--you conquered my blog's aversion to you, but you need to fix your Beta profile! Most of you is missing.

See you in January, perhaps? If not, I know for sure I'll be up the last week of March.

:-)

I just love memes - I don't know why!

I did the meme today, but I added three items. It just seemed wrong for a Christmas meme to stop at 22 instead of 25!
