A Woman’s Daybook for February 10, 2010
Outside my window...I know so many of my friends are dealing with record breaking snow, but we are unseasonably warm. It’s an early spring for an early Lent. Right now, it’s raining.
I am thinking...I will never learn my numbers in Russian.
I am thankful for...oh so much.
From the learning rooms…semester ended for the X-man, one of his new classes is a volunteer position at the elementary.
From the kitchen...cheesy, yummy food. Probably pizza tonight.
I am wearing...the cutest new skirt that Dh saw when we were wandering around the mall a couple of weeks ago – and correctly stated I’d love it (it’s a short, green wool skirt with buttons) a black turtleneck, black tights, and a pair of Clarks.
I am creating...nothing at the moment. I’m in an Artist Class, and have faithfully downloaded each project, bought a lot of found items for it, and still not had the time to complete a thing.
I am going...God willing, to be a Godmother this weekend to a delightful young woman and friend.
I am reading...Yesterday, I finished City of Shadows by Ariana Franklin – slightly anachronistic, but a riveting read with a great twist that I enjoyed. I am reading a bit of brain candy, one of the Moreland Dynasty books
I am hoping...guess what, still hoping that the Oldest gets a job. ARgggggggg.
I am hearing...I’m not usually a big Pearl Jam fan, but I’m loving their new song.
Around the house...we are trying to feed one cat salmon food* since the duck doesn’t agree with her, and the other cat duck since the salmon doesn’t agree with her. Dh and the X-man think we should compromise on chicken. And, I’m pondering why a vegetarian buys duck, salmon and chicken.
One of my favorite things...Conversation hearts – and I’m surprised that I’ve not seen them a lot this year.
A few plans for the rest of the week…I am really busy for the rest of the week – Russian class tonight, a movie with a friend tomorrow night, a day of meetings on Friday, and the Baptism and Forgiveness Sunday this weekend. I have something I should be doing on Saturday, but frankly, I may skip it.
Don’t forget…Middlemarch starts on Monday!
*huh. I had no idea Dick Van Patten was involved in cat food production.

That is awesome that you are going to be a Godmother! How special, Mimi! And what a nice way to start the Lenten season.
Sadly I will not be doing Forgiveness Vespers this year as I had a knee scope five weeks ago. I can't stand that long, and I will freak out if someone bumps my knee while I sit down. So my priest told me to find him after Liturgy so that we can do our forgiveness with each, and there are several from the parish I will do forgiveness with.
You are plowing through the books! I finally (!) finished Anna Karenina. I really liked it. Many scenes with Levin and Kitty made me cry! I started God Without Thunder, which is a nonfiction read, and I suppose I will start The Red and the Black next.
I am also reading Jeremiah and Ecclesiastes for Lent. This is a first time for me with both books. I finally finished the Pentateuch (with other books mixed in) on Monday and am glad to be done! Deuteronomy got a little difficult!
I had to search for conversation hearts this year, it was a bummer...
we are also having pizza tonight, my dough is rising as we speak..
Lord have mercy on your son's job search! St. Xenia's prayers are effective for this...
Don't look forward to those hearts too much. They changed the flavors! All fruity now, blue raspberry, sour apple and the like. ICK.
How wonderful that you're going to be a godmother again. I bet you're an awesome godmother.
Prayers for a job for your oldest.
Glad you liked the book, great new colors on the blog, the skirt sounds CUTE, and what a wonderful thing it is to be a godmother!
I forgot that Middlemarch was a group read thing...I'm in!
Ali - I totally understand the knee issues, I hope you are healing well. Your priest has an excellent solution. Forgive me.
Mie - I hardly found any. Sigh.
Elizabeth - that's a good reminder, thank you.
Barb - I had that experience. Blech. My Facebook status said, "I've been punked by Sweethearts" Blech, blech, blech.
Deb - Pray for me. Thank you.
Janelle - Thanks!
Oh! A godmother! I love being a godmother. I have lovely godchildren..almost all boys! Still love em all and pray for them often, esp. those that have more needs and I do have several of those. I hope you enjoy that. Are you a godmother to others? :) Well, you are right we have some tough weather off and on, but its just that they say we had more snow than usual, but here, I recall very similar winters. For you, however, and the south..yes, it has been different and of course the mess in the NE. Yuck! Enjoy your weather!
Greeat read thankyou
