I love baseball, as many of you know. I have written before that while I follow the
Seattle Mariners (who have the dubious honor of being the first team to lose
100 games in a season with a payroll of over 100 million), my first love is the
Dodgers (and, no Herman, I don't know what they call the hotdogs in Dodger Stadium - Dodger Dogs?). Since my husband’s first love is the Giants, we keep the peace in the household by following a different league, and a different team.
However, I must gush as the Dodgers are in the
playoffs, baby! So, here is a picture thought I’m sharing today, and my hope is for a good post-season run (how about winning some postseason games for me, ok?)
And, a side note, best wishes to
Father John as his
Twins are in the hunt for the postseason as well, I think they may pull it off.

Well, now that the Rockies have finished their worst season ever, I'm going back to temporarily rooting for my first baseball love, the Dodgers. Yay Dodgers! I gotta tell you, it doesn't look good. Deep in my heart I want the Cubbies to win, though.
Hope you are feeling better!
What was the name of the player you were ogling (or is it admiring...) in middle school? Was it Steve Someone??
I admit not knowing much about baseball, but I have enjoyed Donald Hall's poetry and prose for over then years and he loves baseball! :)
I only ever watch basketball and not even all that much.
Nice to see you Mimi - take care - Kellan
Hey, Mimi! Do you like Rich Donnelly, Major League Baseball coach? Danny and Shane went to a Catholic Men's Conference on Saturday and got to hear him speak! They were really moved by him.
BTW Have you heard of the new film "Champions of Faith - Baseball Addition" It is awesome! I'll bet you and your guys would all love it. If you go on Catholic Exchange site, I believe there is an ad of how to order it on the right side somewhere on the main page. We showed it to 6, 7 and 8th graders last summer and they were mesmerized the entire show!
Anyway, FYI. :) Suz
Silly me, of course you know Rich Donnelly, since he coached your "Dodgers!" :)
Amy - that was quite the turn around from last year, wasn't it? Ouch.
Tracey - you have such a fabulous memory. His name was (and is still) Steve Sax.
Oooh, Elizabeth, I'll have to check him out.
Suzanne - that's so awesome, I'll have to check it out.
Thanks everyone, the first game is Wednesday.
YEEEEEEEE-HAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! Go Dodger Blue! My favorite team. Can't wait to watch. . .
my husband's family have been following the dodgers since they came over from brooklyn, so you can guess how excited they are! the dodgers BARELY made it to the playoffs but have been doing fairly decent lately, let's hope they keep at it. :)
let's go dodgers!

Just did not want to go on my trip w/out letting my regulars know.
God bless!
You are correct: at Dodger games you eat Dodger Dogs!! Although I do not know what you call the dogs you eat at Angel games.
Okay, now for the baseball part-- Apparently Presidential Candidate Barack Obama is a ball fan too as he joked prior to last nites Rays/White Sox game: "I think I'm going to skip the last week of the presidential race if it's a crosstown series."
The Rays won so he doesn't need to worry about that now.
