Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Of course I have a soft spot for this saint (and a special shout out to Patrick, whose Patron Saint Day is today; and my friend Katie who is as Irish as Irish gets). I love this icon
of him, showing him holding the Shamrock which he used to explain the Trinity.

The Incredible Edna reminded me to post about this Saint who crosses all boundaries of ethnicity, cultural adherence and even denomination to be beloved by all.
His Hagiography can be seen on Deb’s Blog , His incredible prayer “The Breastplate” on Pastor Weedon’s Blog, and a wonderful story about him can be seen on Joshua's blog.

So, may the luck of the Irish be with you! I copped this great comic from the lovely and half-Irish Simone

I didn't know the history of the shamrock. Thanks! Actually I know very little about St. Patrick now that I think about it. That's a shame since my family is Irish!

I got a call this morning from one of my wilder friends who started drinking at 8am. He's first generation American... Irishman through and through! He called at 8:30am just to say, "Happy St. Paddy's Day from one Irishman to another!" Now, that's a die-hard Irishman! I was like, "Ummm... yeah. I'm wearing green. Isn't that good enough?"

Bwahaahahahahaha! Oh dear.

This is more me: I was like, "Ummm... yeah. I'm wearing green. Isn't that good enough?"

Although, my youngest son was worried I'd pinch him before he got his day clothes on today.

Great cartoon...and the icon is lovely!

I'd have to wear orange on St Paddy's Day, and that would probably get me beat up, so I opt out. LOL.

My mother in law has that icon of st. patrick. she's 100% irish. her father was named patrick. i try to encourage my husband to be more irish... like learn about his irish heritage, etc.

Mimi - I love the cartoon. I was never a big St. Patrick's day person either. It wasn't until after I read "How the Irish Saved Civilization" a few years ago that I really came to appreciate him.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I can never remember to sign my name on your blog.

Simone - it was great.

Janelle - Orange? Really? I'd never even THINK to do that! Oh dear. I have some Scots-Irish blood too.
