Emma does think rather highly of herself! I wish I could enjoy you, being the Austen lover that I am. But I am making my way through War and Peace, and really enjoying it!
Good choice!
Although, my hubby hates this book :) i don't think he can appreciate Austen.
Ooohhhh, I may have this already, but I'll have to check. I know I've never read it, but I've seen the film many times!! CANNOT WAIT!!!
Great choice!
Oh I loved this book. Emma was a very realistic IMO character. I am sorry I didn't weigh in, but I'd love to join. I love Austen!!
And I know I didn't respoind about Don Quixote, but I'm pretty sure I really don't want to read the book, ever, but definitely not for now.
Cool! A very recent read for me. I would love to join your discussion.
I will check in with you and your readers. Like Laura, I am working my way through a Tolstoy book though I am reading Anna Karenina.
Ooooo. What fun! I missed out on the voting, but I probably would've voted for Emma anyway. So now the trick is to hold off until we're *supposed* to start, right?
I can't wait to start and have everyone along!
Laura and Ali - enjoy the Russian novels, I've read both and enjoyed.
And Grace, of course you can start early :)

See, Mimi, you read EVERYTHING! Absolutely EVERYTHING, and in a fraction of time it takes me to read the same things! I love the Russian literature because of its references to Orthodoxy. That was why The Brothers Karamazov was so special to me; I read it when I was in the process of converting, and wow was I moved! Tolstoy obviously doesn't take the position of Dostoevsky, but he still has plenty of Orthodox references.
I am also thinking of starting in the new year In the First Circle by Solzhenitsyn.

I am ashamed that I have yet to read a book written by Austen :O
Perhaps your post can inspire me to do so - I always hear such wonderful things about this author...:) Hope life is treating you well and thanks for the kind comments on my blog. xoxoxo
I always thought she should have said that about Fanny Price. I guess it's an indicator of how things change.
Emma is available online at Pemberley, btw, for people who don't have or, like me, have cleverly lost it.

Oooh, fun! Running to dust off my copy of Austen's complete novels.
Emma is the best - i really love that book. Enjoy! :)
Almost any work by Jane Austin is a jewel. About every 5 years, I re-read Pride and Prejudice, Sense, and Sensibility, Persuasion, and Emma.
ENJOY!
P.S. Movies made from these works are chick flicks, ladies. Forget trying to interest your husband.
Count me in! I'm very excited!

Woohoo!
