Christ is Risen!
A happy Feast Day to all!

Xavier and I were discussing how much we loved this hymnn:

The Angel cried to the Lady full of grace
Rejoice! Rejoice! O pure Virgin!
Again, I say rejoice!
Your son is risen from His three days in the tomb!
With Himself He has raised all the dead.
Rejoice, rejoice, O ye people!
Shine! Shine! Shine, O new Jerusalem!
The glory of the Lord has shown on thee.
Exult now, exult and be glad, O Sion.
Be radiant, O pure Theotokos,
In the Resurrection, the Resurrection of thy Son

(we were talking about this very hymn tonight at supper - it's probably my favorite thing to sing at Pascha, too! But I have to say that while the singing is gorgeous in this rendition, it is certainly taken at a stately tempo! My own parish rather flies through this, adding a particularly joyful feel).

Blessings of the feast to you and yours, Mimi!

The chanters sang this hymn at the end of our wedding (as we walked down the aisle)... we were married during the paschal season. We both love it, too!

And that hymn is particularly beautiful: and sung with gusto in our parish.

Indeed He is Risen!!!

In our choir, we don't even refer to that hymn as the Paschal Theotokion any more. We just refer to it as Pascha's Greatest Hits, or even the St. Paul (our parish) Fight Song.

Oooooh, we're bad :-)

Have a blessed Bright Week!

We love this hymn too - it becomes our bebtime lullaby (a quieter version) for the next 6 weeks.
