This morning the phone rang early - it was Eddie "look outside"
"Is it snowing?" I asked
"No" he said
I looked outside - I could see his car and waved.
"Do you see the flamingos?" he said.
I could after he pointed them out - it was awfully dark.

An entire flock of flamingos had landed on our front yard - it's a fundraiser for the youth group in our parish - we will have to pay to have them removed.
Although, as Cedric said this morning, "they add something. Something that would have been added if you'd let us put up a blowup snowglobe"

We have that same fundraiser here! But they get out of hand...there are dozens! No matter how small the yard! haha! Great idea...isn't it?

Wow, I just can't imagine anything like this happening in my little place in England! We get a lot of squirrels and sparrows, but that's about as exotic as it gets!

God bless!

Oh... I love it! How wonderful! I'm going to pass this idea along to the teen group at my church!

Can you pay them extra for "hitting next" at the house of your choosing?

The youth group would lose money at out house, I LOVE flamingos (to my wife's chagrin...) and I wouldn't call them to remove them... but then my wife would and probably pay double... :)

Neat idea! What are the kids raising funds to do?

*snort* I can see Cedric liking the idea of keeping the flamingos for a while. What do they do if you just want to let them stay for a while? They do add a touch of, ummmm, class? *snicker*

That is fabulous, leave 'em and see what the neighbors think! LOL

Loved your Xmas card, your boys are soooo very handsome, thanks so much.

What happens if you don't pay? Do you get to keep the flamingoes? :-)

I have yet to find the poles for our flamingoes. My good friend dana in Maryland sent a pair of them to us. She loves flamingoes. :-) Plus, they're going extinct! The factory closed down.

This fundraiser reminded me of an article I read recently, where a city was raising funds by putting a wooden outhouse on people's lawns, and they had to pay something to get rid of it. Then they got to choose whose lawn it went on next. It raised $200 in two days.

Love the birdies! Better grab some hats and scarves though..it's gonna get cold out there! Those skinny legs crack me up!! Have you named them yet? Are they vegan?

Eddie did wonder how much it'd cost to keep them, grin!

And, yes, actually we do get to choose who gets them next time.

How funny :)

Hmm. Doesn't seem like a good fundraiser to me. What is it teaching the youth? Extortion?

I have heard this type of fundraiser before, and I would not want my teens participating unless people sign up to be "Flamingoed."
