This weekend was a bit of a tear, I’m finally sort of recovered.
Friday, the kids, one of X’s friends, Eddie and I drove to the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah to spend the night, and Xaiver and his friend had a Math Competition bright and really early on Saturday. I proctored for the 7th grade test – it was quite interesting. I also got some reading done while I was proctoring. Afterwards, the team met at Pizza Hut for lunch. Yum. They felt they did great – results are pending.
We drove back home (and my MP3 player on random did play Nirvana), and Xavier had a baseball game. Then, Eddie and I went to his School’s Silent Auction. Score – I bought a voucher from the Bus Company that will cover Cedric’s summer bus pass for $21 less than what it is worth. Whohoooo.
Saturday, our Church Sisterhood had our fundraising dinner. It was a wonderful Greek themed dinner – most of the food had been cooked in the days preceding it so it wasn’t a huge rush to get everything prepared for the dinner. Lots of yummy Greek food and I even got to bring home some leftovers. I got home about 9pm
Yesterday, our parish buried one of our beloved benefactors (may Theophilius’ Memory be Eternal) so I drove back to the church to help in the kitchen. Somehow, even though I’ve been Orthodox nearly ten years, it was my first Orthodox funeral. What a beautiful service.
And, last night was Book Club . I came home afterwards, walked past the dishes to be washed and clothes to be folded and fell into bed exhausted.
I think I’m recovered, so I have chores tonight after the Little League game. Go team!

Our lives seem to be in parallel. I know I will miss these busy busy years when they are gone, but they sure are exhausting!

Mmmm..thanks for the recipe link! We love Greek food!
Sounds like a crazy weekend--but I'm glad you got to have some fun.
Now that`s what I call busy !
Memory eternal Theophilius !
Doesn't it seem like the weekends are more exhausting than the work week?!?! I pray a nice do-nothing weekend will come my way soon!
The first Greek funeral I went to, oh so many years ago, I commented to Petros, "This would make my sad even if I didnt know the deceased"
I love the service. I have been to many funerals since, and it still raises the hair on the back of my neck.
Isnt there something peaceful knowing what your funeral will be like.
I have lost so many good friends lately, and some didnt even know the person who did the service.
Sad....
Susan
woohoo for the greek food, on another note:)
Wow, you guys were busy. We had a similar weekend so I can sympathize. Try to get some relaxing done THIS weekend. :)
sounds like you've been SO busy Mimi. Hope you've had time to recover again. Busy isn't bad, until it becomes a way of life ...
