Christ is Risen!

Our church's Paschal Liturgy was bright and beautiful, served by three priests - the two priests attached to our parish and the priest from the local military base - and two deacons, and a full contingent of Altar Boys.

My favorite Altar Boy listening to the Paschal Sermon of St. John Chrysostom

And, a couple of hours later, a tired Favorite Altar Boy watching the blessing of the baskets.
Our basket is on the left in the rear.

What a beautiful picnic yesterday – the weather was over 70 degrees – a beautiful and sunny day. I enjoyed visiting with friends yesterday, including Lizzie -who brought the wonderful Pascha bread using Presbytera Elizabeth’s recipe - and the Mousethief family And, in another Presbytera Elizabeth moment, I bit into a salad and noticed an unusual taste sensation – um, that was lamb. Xavier was sitting there saying “Mom, it’s been ten years since you ate meat….” (note: it’s actually been more than that) I’m still not quite over that moment.

We arrived home and Eddie had planted some Bleeding Hearts I bought, and fixed the fence.

All in all a lovely day. Bright Week Blessings to everyone! May the light of the Risen Christ illumine you and your family!

Well, now you've eaten meat more recently than me, by about 5 weeks! ;-P

Lamb in salad? Did it accidentally drop in? Yuck. Fr. Paul ate lamb, just a bite, on purpose even. :-) He said it tasted just how he remembered it.

What an adorable altar boy! And so glad to hear Eddie fixed the fence. Where was Cedric in all this? And lamb . . . probably not the best way to lure you into meat again, huh!

Thank-you, Mimi! No meat! Wow...I don't eat nearly what I used to, but I don't know if I could do it forever unless my body said I had to.

It looks like it was a beautiful service. Thanks for sharing!!

I don't eat beef or lamb and just had a friend invite us over for dinner. She forgot we don't eat beef and made a shephard's pie. We tried to eat around it, but I did get a few tiny bites of beef.

A bright and blessed Bright Week to you and your family!
Our weather for our post-Paschal Vespers picnic was lovely too; special order, just for the day.

perhaps i am weird... i like lamb. my buddy David and i prepared lamb kabobs of sort (no vegies JUST lamb) for us to eat at the Bright Monday picnic... my wife and family wanted, and had, burgers.

sounds like the picnic and the surprise waiting for you when you got home was good.

Christ is risen!

It sounds like a lovely day, minus the lamb. May your days be filled with new life. :)

Christ is risen!

May the light of the Resurrection shine in you and your family throughout the year!

Notice how the light of Pascha makes all the other feasts and celebrations throughout the year seem dim by comparison?
