Wolfgang Turned 100,000 This Week

We bought a 2001 Jetta TDI in October of 2002 with about 33,000 miles on it, and Eddie promptly named him “Wolfgang”. I love my car – because it’s a diesel the mileage is incredible, the handling is fabulous, he uses BioDiesel, and while he can be touchy sometimes and expensive to repair – he’s well worth it.

So, in 3.5 years, we’ve driven 67,000 miles and I plan on hundreds of thousands more before we are through. Thank you Wolfgang for being a great car. Thank you VW for building a great car. I think I should celebrate by going through the car wash this week.

I want a Jetta! How cool. Good for you and Eddie for doing the whole biodiesel thing. My dad has an 89 Jetta that he's hoping to convert into a biodiesel. My mom has her doubts... hehe, we'll see!

We've always named our cars, too! My husband's is "Ollie" -- Otto the Lynx -- and mine is "BoBo" -- Boris the Blue Beast.

But neither uses biodiesel -- in the Northeast, the only biodiesel stations are around big cities. A day late and a dollar short, as usual (in this case, several hundred dollars).

So, we're not the only ones to name our vehicles. Our big white van has two: Vanna and Moby. Hubby has a black "batmobile". My poor Subaru has no name, but I constantly remind oldest dd that its "mine!"

This is the first I've heard of biodiesel, I'm embarrassed to say, Wisconsin hick that I am. I looked at that site and see that there's a station a couple of miles from me that sells it. Who knew? I drive a 1996 Toyota Previa minivan that we call the Golden Egg because it's gold and is kind of egg shaped. I'm waiting waiting waiting for Toyota to start selling a hybrid minivan in this country. --Anita

good for you, mimi...and what a great name. I had a 240 volvo named sammy that was sold to a girl at church. I can't even remember how many miles were on that thing. I should think of some names for my saturn wagon. Not too much character there.

I had a 67 VW bug named Fritz!
I loved that car so much. Never had the heart to name another car, but my friend and I had many a good time in Fritz. Could fill her up with $2.00. Those were the days.

Happy birthday, Wolfgang!! Our car is named "Junior." When we got it, we went through various names, including "Trevor", but nothing seemed to fit. Our last car was very originally named "Blackie." I jokingly said, "Maybe this car should just be Blackie Jr." (even though it's maroon.) So, "Junior" it is.

We bought a VW in December, and we're loving it. Nice to hear that Wolfgang has held up so well!

we had a WV Jetta too (bought from FIL)it knocked up an amazing amount of mileage, but unfortunately wasn't a disel (derv) model. There's a huge tax in Finland for using diesel and I haven't heard of the bio kind here.

We moved over to Renault when we bought a new car (station wagon cos of the dog)

we haven't named our cars here, but when I lived inthe UK I had a little white Ford Escort van which I called Jemima
