A Woman’s Daybook  FOR TODAY May 25, 2010

Outside my window...it’s raining, but that warm, spring rain not the freezing winter rain.

I am thinking...I need to really go through and organize so many places in my home – the pantry, the cookbook shelf, the top of the bookshelf in the loft, the kids’ books bookshelf. I should just tackle one at a time, slowly, until it is done.

I am thankful for...always so much, but for a wonderful trip (thanks mom) with my mom, sister, aunt, and cousin a couple of weeks ago. We went on a cruise from LA to Vancouver, Canada.

From the learning rooms...still about a month of school for the X-man.  He’s ready for it to be over, though.

From the kitchen...I made Matushka
's blueberry buckle last night, and had a piece for breakfast this morning.

I am wearing...
a turquoise sweater shell, a black sweater, and a skirt with green and turquoise paisley type things on a black background. A pair of Mary Jane flats.

I am creating... A link to these stamps
arrived in my email box, and started me thinking that I want to host a Fairy Tale themed ATC swap. I have several who responded on Facebook, but if you want to join (and please do!) let me know by Friday, 5/28. Due date will probably be in the third week of June.

I am going...like many moms
to a weekend Little League baseball tournament this weekend.

I am reading...this morning, I finished Ruslan by Barbara Scrupski. It bogged a bit in the narrative, but she had the main characters interact with Russian literary characters, and that was fun.
- I’m thinking of hosting a read-along in June – anyone interested? Some books I’m thinking of are Great Expectations by Charles Dickens;  Little Men by Louisa May Alcott;    Wuthering Heights  by Emily Bronte; or The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Graeme. Thoughts?  Interest?

I am hoping...to get some rhubarb in our early CSA boxes (which should start in the next couple of weeks.) I want to chop  it and put it in the freezer, and when the fresh strawberries come in, make strawberry-rhubarb jam.

I am hearing... A friend hooked me on Pandora, I have a lot of fun with it.

Around the house...I swapped out the winter and summer clothes last week.

One of my favorite things...getting to ditch the tights and move to sandals and summer shoes.

A few plans for the rest of the week...The X-man has a movie night on Friday and I’m hoping to go on a date night with my Dh.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...in Vancouver.  I also got to meet the delightful Bev
when I was in her neck of the woods! Huzzah!

I love it when I can drop the stockings/tights and go with sandles too. Lovely daybook. I havent' been reading much these last few days. I need to change that.

Ruslan sounds rather fun :-)

I quite fancy Great Expectattions for a readalong :-)

The weather here is glorious, but forecast to get much much cooler over the next few days. I have spent all week in skirts, which is the first time since October last year.... Enjoy wearing your sandals !

If you pick Wind in the Willows, I'll try to find Kenneth Graeme's gravestone in Holywell Cemetery here in Oxford, and post a photo! It's Eights Week here, and for once we have good weather for messing about in boats.

Hope you enjoyed Vancouver - I grew up there and miss it a lot, Oxford's charms notwithstanding :)

Mmmm... blueberry buckle... (said in Homer Simpson's 'Mmm... beeeer..' voice)

I would like to be sitting on an old wooden verandah smelling the earthy smell of warm spring rain and eating fresh bread with strawberry-rhubarb jam :)

Loved your daybook. And I'm so jealous that you got to hang out with Bev, one of my favorite Orthodox authors and CP friends!
