I have only been to work one day this week - and am enjoying my second day off in a row. I sent the Xman out to measure, and he came back saying 6.5".

pretty. It's so pretty. But. It's so cold. And right now frozen. As in black ice hiding in all the worst places.

6.5" is a respectable amount of snow - I'd love to have 2 weekdays off this week - whata gift during the week before Christmas (unless, like me, you work at a church!)

A beautiful picture. I can just see you curled up in your favorite place with a book in your hands, relishing the unexpected free time. Enjoy your break from the rat race. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful picture!! Here in Chicago we are expecting 10-14 inches of snow with lots of ice! We are so excited. We love snow except my husband has to perform a funeral during all this, so we will see what happens. Thank God we own a Jeep! :-)

BEAUTIFUL! The perfect weather to curl up by the fire with a cup of tea a good book and a room full of quiet children also reading books! Enjoy your beautiful scenery and your respite from work.

Tatiana - yes, we have the same problem, the black ice. It is still snowing, amazingly. Very rare for us.

Oh, Suzanne, thank you! I am about to get off the computer and go do just that.

-C - no, I work in Real Estate. I am thankfully able to monitor the email and voice mail from home.

Pres - That amazes me that y'all do such normal and mundane things when it is snowing. Memory Eternal.

I miss REAL snow. Here, we get an inch or less and then it ices over. Not fun and very dangerous. But of course, everything is closed and cancelled. Fortunately, last year when we went back to NY for Christmas, there were several feet of snow at my in-laws' house. My little man was in heaven.

It is snowing here in the Philly area. 2" to 4" inches expected, with icy conditions.

Pretty...but I hate the snow.

All we seem to be getting this winter is rain!

Today it has rained here A LOT, but and hour north of us it has snowed all day. The university has closed...

But all we seem to get is rain-not fair!

Our snow has stopped - we just have freezing cold temperatures. It is supposed to start snowing again on Sunday. We are having friends over. They may be staying the night.

Have a blessed Christmas, Mimi, and stay warm!

11" this AM in Bothell (15 miles NE of Seattle, for those out of state).

I'm sure you have more :-)

And it's snowing again! Gorgeous, but amazing.

We had more snow. But, they are promising rain by the weekend. So, enjoy it while you can. We were to travel into the city today - but that is not going to happen.

I find the romance of snow to be directly related to its scarcity. Up here in Minnesota where we can routinely have snow from November through April it loses its charm pretty quickly. There are a lot of Minnesotans who solve the whole winter wonderland thing by heading south in convoys right after Thanksgiving! : )

There will be peace in the world.
So let it be.

So fun! (Unless you have to go drive in it!) It makes the world seem so lovely and peaceful.
Thanks so much for the Christmas letter! Nice to see your family and you smiling from the page!
Christ is born!
