Christ is Risen! I am enjoying a very lazy Bright Thursday at home – I took the day off full of ideas that I’d get accomplished. It is 1:20 pm, and I haven’t gotten any of them done. I sent the boys to the corner store for milk (I should pay them back for that, eh?) for the Mac and Cheese they are cooking. Yum.

A few random thoughts. Melissa at About.com’s Medieval History spot sent this amazing Animated Bayeux Tapestry. Very cool! Cedric would like to point out the Warcraft II sound effects used.

I am very late in thanking Michelle’s son for the lovely cross he made for me; it is in my icon corner. And, Congratulations and many years to the newly Illumined Family.

Xavier got Basil’s Search for Miracles in his Pascha basket. I was looking forward to reading it with him, but he’s been burning through it and I guess I’ll have to wait until he’s done. Heather was kind enough to send an extra copy to our Parish Library, thank you!

I read Animal Farm last weekend – Cedric was reading it for class and let me borrow it. I’d seen the movie before, but not read it.

And, while browsing on You Tube regarding the Tapestry, I found the McCartney’s appearance on The Simpsons. Is there no end to the coolness of the internet?

I too read Animal Farm for the first time recently. I ended up not liking pigs very much but enjoying them as crispy bacon ;-) Then I saw some cute little wild piglets one day and I have since forgiven them.

Thanks for your "congrats" on my entry into the Orthodox Church. Our son lives in Des Moines, Washington, and maybe the next time we visit, we'll attend your church. On our last visit, we attended St. Spiridon in downtown Seattle (but our priest is friends with Fr. James Bernstein in Brier, WA, so that may actually be our next visit). I see your comments all the time at David Bryan's blog.

Glad I'm not the only one being a Bright Week lazybones. Ain't it great?

I read "Animal Farm" when I was a kid. I heard that it had talking animals and I thought it would be cute. Wow, what a nasty surprise that was.

I read animal farm, and 1984 again and I can't decide which one freaked me out more. . .

The animated Bayeux Tapestry is rather cool.

I was thinking of borrowing Animal Farm from the library this weekend: I haven't read it since Year 9 (8?).

Prayers for the continued joy of Pascha.

The animated Bayeux Tapestry is way cool, thanks for the link! I've shared it with the Embroider's Guild email list :)

This has been one very good, but rather interesting, Bright Week.

Christ is Risen!
Truly He is Risen!

hi

studying orthodoxy in seminary rightnow and thinking of you so much dear friend

blessings -loved these snippets of life with you today.

Tell more about bright week - never heard that phrase before. Is it uniquely orthodox?

In High School I recall that my paper on Animal Farm included the idea that "...if Old Major was so wise he would have known his idea would not have worked..." or something like that. Whatever.

On a better note, Heather Z. and her husband had/have (i am not sure what the current status is) a band called Joyful Sorrow. Mellow acoustic music.

Esther Then I saw some cute little wild piglets one day and I have since forgiven them. You do have those great wild pigs in Hawaii. So adorable!

Grace I heard that it had talking animals and I thought it would be cute. Wow, what a nasty surprise that was. Bwahahahahahahhaa. Those kinds of stories are so true. My friend has a similar one about “The Red Pony” by Steinbeck.

Mielikki 1984 I’ve not read 1984, but since I’m living it, I guess I should, grin.

Spazzgirl until my teacher wanted us to discuss its relation to politics....politics??? Yeah, Cedric was complaining about that too – “The teacher keeps wanting to talk about the politics behind it.” Um, yeah.

Lorna - Tell more about bright week - never heard that phrase before. Is it uniquely orthodox? I don’t know if it is only in Orthodoxy that the week after Pascha is called Bright Week. Do my Latin Rite readers know?

And, Papa H – I can see the essay in my head now, grin! And, I’ve heard of Heather’s band, but not heard. I shall look them up.
